"old school"

some players have expressed an interest in an "old school" weapons server

i'm putting this up on an experimental basis
the server will only be on line when someone is there to admin
at least until we can establish a core group of regular users added as VIPs who by using the auto-admin kick vote feature = /kick (playername) can help me keep banned weapons off the server

this is not a protest of EA "for sale" weapons, simply an attempt to provide an alternative game experience and a place to try out all the classes before you choose which weapons to buy

(yes i know i'll get flamed , they can't say anything i havn't heard before or read in other threads asking about default/old school servers)

ALLOWED WEAPONS:

ROYAL
commando: royal knife, oscars farshot, pipsqueak popper, roderick rifle
soldier: charlies chopper, tommys typewriter, gregs greasy gun
gunner: maxwells machinegun, bernies bonechewer, the cheeser
shotgun: hubbles double trouble, stewarts shotty, slugger
pistol: garreth custom, harrys hand cannon, carls cold comfort
explosive: tank buster, bills bomb, sticky tnt

NATIONAL
commando: konrads knife, the gourmet, stefans sharpshooter, the groundbreaker
soldier: the kommandant, rudolphs rescue, the wacky machine gun
gunner: rudis rediculous, backscratcher, wolfgangs wonderful
shotgun: steiners shotgun, friedrich fly swatter, uwes overpowered
pistol: gearharts greatest, florenz flurry, ludwigs loaded
explosive: steel hand grenade, fausts panzerfist, sticky tnt

hadn't thought about, that but since they are really just an appearence item , yes allowed

for now, it's going to be hard enough just trying to police unwanted weapons
howevr i'm open to suggestions about rules, maps, limiters
especially from anyone active on the server

if you want to be VIP tell players with =B4= tag in-game, i will also look at the player names of accounts that respond to this thread and add if i recognize you in-game

Thats the thing though.

The new widgets changed the balance MUCH more than ubers did. (And both are going to require some pretty heavy admin attention to pull off.)

Oh.. and really... if you wanted to be really old school.... the pilfereds and the styleish are what allowed dual wielding of weapons. /shrug Just... you know, something to consider.

first week of "experimental" server = fail
largely because of this

secondly because so many of the players that connect through the "play now" button speak limited english (very large number of South American players)
also very few players leave because they have unwelcome weapons, they simply play until kicked
there are only two admins and so far we havn't recruited any VIPs or moderators to help manage the server so it's only up a 2 or 3 hours a day
except when i've left it up without active admin during which time there is zero compliance with weapons rule (based on what i've seen in chat log)

will continue to run server a couple of hours a day until it expires at the end of the month to see if there is any change
