Welcome to my GIMP Tutorial. Here I will show/teach you the basics of making signatures with GIMP. There will be links at the bottom of this post to help you. I will update this time to time and will answer questions i can answer. I will not answer troll, spam or flame and you will be ignored. Thanks Big Grin .Well lets get started!

Mugshot Quality
The in-game graphics also counts for mugshots. Examples:

Low Quality
[Afbeelding: mugshotgn.png]

High Quality
[Afbeelding: mugshotlt.png]

See the differance? This saves you time cutting around the mugshot, gives it better quality and texture.

Mugshot Editing
Mugshots are important parts of signatures. Would you like a signature like:

This:
[Afbeelding: badexample.png]

Or This:
[Afbeelding: goodexample.png]

To remove most pixelation you can see grab the Lasso tool and zoom in, go around your mugshot, gently cutting off the pixels like this:
[Afbeelding: pixelcut.png]

Until you end up like this:
[Afbeelding: selectedmugshot.png]

It should look better now. If not, undo and do it again carefully.

Now you can play around with the Hue & Saturation. I will skip that since you should know how to use that.

Now open up the layers dock by pressing Ctrl+L and duplicate the layer, change the mode to overlay and lower the occupacity untill you like the look. Example:
[Afbeelding: mugedit.png]

In the end it should end up looking Like This:
[Afbeelding: daveskeemugshot.png]

Now Right-Click, Edit, Copy Visable and [b]Ctrl+Shift+V to paste anytime!

Cutting Out
To cut things out in GIMP you must use the Lasso tool to cut around the outside of the image you want to cut.
Example:
[Afbeelding: example2xo.png]

Then reconnect to the starting line/circle and either do Ctrl+C or Right-Click, Edit, Copy. Then you can paste it anywhere you want!

Right Image Sizes
Using the wrong image sizes is one of the most stupid things you could do while creating a signature because when you equip it as your sig and post a reply to a thread your signature will be gone in a flash! The correct image size is 900 (Width) x 200 (Hight).

Object Outlines
To get an outlin of an object is simple. Go to the image address, save image as a s.png image and cut it out.
[Afbeelding: miniuzi.png]

[Afbeelding: miniuzi.png]

Then copy it and go to the sig or wallpaper ect. that you want to paste it into and, Right Click, Paste As, New Layer
Now if it is too big just simply zoom out and Scale scale it untill it fits the Image Size!
From there my Video Will help you!

Thx all. thats all for now i may incluce some more laterz. Thanks!

Yes very nice for people to learn the basics. But I would include some more. If this is for 'newbies' they won't know all the terms and such Tongue

RE: [Tutorial] SVD's GIMP Tutorial - padamlulek - 08-06-2011 11:18 PM

Include a quickmask tutorial!!!

How I do it:

Pick layer (usually I create a background color layer to mask into a shape)
Select the part I want to KEEP
Click quickmask button (bottom left corner)
Red should appear on UN selected part
Click filters: Gauss blur, move around the pixel count to whatever I want
Right click quickmask button, set opacity to 100%
Click quickmask (it should just show the selection)
Then click select -> invert selection
Click cut
