Edit: While Halloween may have had its origin in some ancient Christian and Gaelic celebrations, the Halloween that we know today is far from it, and is not Catholic.
South America is full of Christian Catholics and they have never celebrated Halloween, although thanks to Globalization Halloween is celebrated pretty much all over the world (Mostly just means wearing costumes and partying all night long)

It is religius only catholic countries celebrate it . Orthodox countries like Serbia and whole of balcans , Russia , muslim countries like Turkey , budist and dont know what religion in asia none of them celebrates it , but catholic countries . . .
In Montenegro(where i live) we got something similiar "MASKARE" but it its in february

Halloween was originally started by the paigans as a harvest festiva where they would dress up in costumes to honor/drive off the spirits that would come back to the world of the living, they would also leave treats and what-not for them to appease them (though they were normally taken by the homeless/poor who knew better [ownt]). Then the Catholics came and converted them, and in order to stop their belief in that event, they created "Halloween" or Hallow's Eve, More specifically translated as Hollowed Evening, where they would honor (and pray) for the dead. After which came All Saint's Day.

This is the earliest known origins of Halloween, however just like Easter and Christmas, commercialism came to a rise, and we have forgotten their origins. Still... can't complain... in fact I like it better this way, less dancing around like crazy and a hiary ogre costume and more candy gehen... and essen...
