Welcome to The R.A.T.S. Nest, the headquarters of the 'Royal Army Tactical Squad'.

We’re not really a clan (we kind of are), more like a group of people that met playing Heroes during the closed beta and kept joining each other’s games. We have an official group but that filled up really quickly so now we have another official group!! This is our home on the forums where we talk nonsense, create spam and show off our skills with PhotoShop and MS Paint.

More congratulations in order because Tour de Heroes won the Machinima Mania contest!! Big congratulations to Keisari and all involved! It stars many R.A.T.S. and was co-directed by our own DJHANDSFREE and if you haven't seen it then you absolutely should!

The R.A.T.S. server is all paid up now so all there is left to do is wait! Big thanks to IamLaser for getting on top of everything (you’re awesome)! With the server coming it's time to get more organised! Here's DJHANDSFREE with some information:

So please, go to http://www.mirc.com/ and download the client. After that you connect to the server 'quakenet' and after that join #RATS. I'll help you with the other things concerning mIRC when you're in the channel!

VOIP

This is also an important factor when clanwars starts, we can't just communicate using the ingame chat when we go against clans as Suami. We need to be able to communicate more effiecently.

I suggest we use Mumble because I seem to remember someone having a server.
And yes, I know some of you are alittle shy when it comes to talking, but you'll overcome that fear!
And some of you don't even have microphones, so if you want to take this game to another level, meaning clanwars, you MUST purchase a microphone.

Finally, have you heard about the M.I.C.E. (Mobile Infantry Supporting Evil)? Well, basically it’s another group for ‘R.A.T.S. with Nats’. So, if you’re already a R.A.T. then head over to the group page and sign up! Hopefully we can arrange some fights amongst ourselves when our server is up and running as it can be a bit boring fighting newbies. If anyone with PhotoShop skills wants to produce some M.I.C.E. stuff then feel free!

Nice! I challenge you fools to mortal kombat in the near future. Thou I need to talk to my mates to see when they're up for it, but definitely we need to have a epic battle some day. Already had some smaller scale ones with just a few of us on the same server, but never with the whole teams. I bet it's going to be pain to get everyone on the same server, but it's doable for sure.

Also, i noticed that most of us play together at 20:00 (GMT +2). When i'm trying to join in the morning no one is online

Any one up for renting a server? Cant afford all by my myself, it´s like 21.95 Euro a month. 3 month pre payments + one time setup cost, would all be € 72,20 the first payment.

Yeah, I'd be up for this if we all chip in! If we split the costs then it should be fine

On a sadder note I'm not going to be able to play much during the next couple of weeks cause I have a big deadline at work. I'll be on when I can but if you see me playing too much then tell me to 'get to work'!

Hey guys, it's good to see that people are interested but we're not really adding people to the group until we have played with them a bunch of times. What you should do is add a few of us as 'friends' and join one of our games when you see us playing together. Make sure that you say hi! If we all have fun and everyone has a chance to get to know you then there's a good chance that we'll accept you but make sure that you've been playing with us for a few weeks first

I just added nFNN to the group - welcome to the R.A.T.S. (officially!)

Commandos get a lot of flack these days for being cowardly so I'm glad that 'our' commando refuses to use stealth and actually runs around with the group! (He's a much better soldier than me as well but that's beside the point )

Really glad that you decided to sign up - see you on the battlefield (when I don't have too much work to play...*grumble*)

R.A.T.S. - remember Rudebottom? He was in our group when we played against the Suami guys.

Well, he has written a script that automatically attepts to join a server that is full so you don't have to get frustrated when trying to join our games.

I've given it a go and it works really well and is really simple to set up. You can find the thread (and links to the download) HERE!

Edit: While I'm here though I might as well say something that I've been wondering about. I'm kinda curious who I've been playing with! No need for too much info but it would be nice to know where you're from! (I'm from Scotland by the way, although I grew up in London!) I get the impression that we're from all over the place so this should be interesting!

Also, has anyone had a think about Laser's idea about renting a server? (Look up.) I'm up for it so that's 2 of us - anyone else want to pitch in?
