Success without SR SMG+LR Pistol

is it possible? i was wondering if as a Soldier you can still be a good player using a build such as dual SMGs or SR SMG+ LR Shotgun or even something else. i have tried LR Pistol+SR Shotgun but did not have much success and switched back. SR SMG+LR Pistol works well but it is used by almost all Soldiers and i think it would be interesting to try something new. any ideas? thanks

Duel LR Shotgun, pirate pistol + SR SMG, LR Shotgun + SR SMG. It's not that hard to find a setup, just get creative.

Robot SMG + Battle Rifle.

Very fun to use once you master the battle rifle and when to use the alt-fire on the robot SMG.

Battle rifle + assault shotgun would be fun. Also LR pistol SR shotgun. Don't be afraid to go against popular opinion, there are many good set ups other than the mainstream ones.

I thoroughly enjoy assault sg paired with srsmg, you get a 20-50pt hit with the sg then finish them with the smg and burning bullets. But like junk said, mainstream isn't necessarily the best way to go.

Battle rifle + alt-fire pistol compliment each other.

You'll be a little weaker in very long range (due to a little less LR accuracy on the pistol) and a little weaker in SR (due to the BR being a MR weapon and the SG aspect of the pistol being not that good). But you should dominate the middle ground and with BS you should be able to keep gunners/soldiers/commando's in that MR.

I've just started a soldier that's gonna use only SR shotgun and LR pistol and so far I don't have any real problems. It takes some getting used to though to use the shotgun effectively and I've found that there is a small zone where neither the pistol nor the shotgun are very effective, so that would be the main problem with this setup.

Still, I guess most setups have their weaknesses. I'd say just try whatever takes your fancy, because I believe that it doesn't have to be OP to be fun

Which is why people recommend SR SMG + LRP, because it covers so much ground.

Grenade spam can help to cover that range , i found out when playing this build

Most fun soldier build:

Uzi + MR pistol.

Do you get kills? Rarely.

Do you have fun hitting everything by accidental spray? Hell yea.

Assault shotgun + pp, very good and fun combo for soldier

Do u get kills? yeah, not as much as the traditional soldier set up though

The battle rifle is well good when you get used to it, being very accurate and dependable at most ranges. Obviously suffers at very close range. Supplement with SR shotgun, or capitalize on with assault shotgun (The 6 shot long range punk shotgun). Assault shotgun is very dependable and powerful, provided you have good aim with it. Not recommended to use as primary. Use when cold reloading primary, and as a way to kick off a fight with a 40 hp advantage. Very nice when used against airborne targets, far and slow targets, and predictable targets. Poor against good strafers and fast targets. Use when target is predictable. Makes the assault shotgun very dependable. Still, the battle rifle is a great primary weapon once you get used to the recoil. Very nice, I liked it a lot.
I speak from combat experience using these weapons.
