i wasn't convinced by that game. i'm still playing AOE II at a high level and AOE III at times and this online game kind of disappointed me. but then again, considering it's free, it's pretty okay.

I played for 2 weeks but got bored quickly. PvP mode is pretty good though.

I still don't get it. Except for the free part - what makes this game better than AoE3?

I'm talking about the actual gameplay in PvP.

Imo it's definately not like the transition from bf2 to bfp4f, and i played both games for a while.
AOEO is based on a few aoe3 models, but is pretty unique on itself. The civs are very unique compared to how little they differed in previous aoe's. It's better than aoe3 because there's still a team working on it, giving frequent updates. 5th civ coming soon etc. Also the game is more diverse, less timing pushes over and over. here's a video taken from the official aoeo stream. I like the smooth graphics.. but idk. I'm really not a fan of the old 4 recources system and the time in which it takes place. But meh.

Well thanks for supporting my point i guess  But he was talking about bf2 - bfp4f. There are like 0 original bfp4f maps. AOEO is not very similar to aoe3, tbh the gameplay is more like aoe2. About the 4 resources system. AOEO is a bit more macro focussed than most current RTS, like starcraft. It's a lot harder to get a balanced economy and imo it takes more skill to keep ur macro up and still micro well than in sc2. Compared to aoe2 aoeo is a bit more fast paced though, which i like |
