Or how about no?

Why even refer to a site that says exactly the same awesome as your alert?
Don't get the point being cunning about updates that often doesn't fill up the expectation we had.

What about just giving us more information immediately, and the forum will live in peace (unlike how's it working now when it's ockupated by n0l1f3rs), or even better, don't say a awesome and let it come as a surprise?

Because the BFH team is a bunch of trendy morons who want to incorporate Facebook into their awesome instead of being straight-up with us. I fucking hate FB and Twitter man, just put it on your own god damn main page primarily.

Yeah this is insanely annoying. Please at least tell us what's in the update in the same thread or section. If you can't do that, stop linking us to facebook saying it has 'more details' about the update when it has no new, relevant info...

Yeah, it's a little weird when the Facebook page is supposed to have more info when it's pretty much the same info from the alert. Maybe it's just plugging that Heroes has a Facebook. Sorta the same with their Twitter and YouTube, but when it's down to the nitty-gritty like update and maintenance, I'd like to have that sort of info easily accessible on the site.

I understand many businesses and sites today require those social networking sites to survive. I just wished there was more cool YouTube happenings on the Official BFH YouTube page, and that Facebook really has more information.

Update: one bonus of using the Facebook for Facebook users. They can comment on the alert on FB, whereas the alert here is locked. What's more, FB users can like an article, and get more exposure for Heroes.

Its called cross promotion. The reason that they mention the Facebook as you are able to comment directly about the alert on Facebook. Same with Twitter, you can @ reply your opinions, but you can also do the same on the forums. Generally a topic is created by a person to discuss their opinions. It's all about creating multiple options for people to interact, not everyone likes to post on a forum, but might feel comfortable on Facebook. Same could be said about all three. So its more about interacting with the community and hearing more from the community. Which is what we all want right?

They don't tell you the patch notes or what is in the up coming update for particular reasons. For example they might end up having to exclude a certain feature at the last minute as they found some more problems with the code, or they might add some more features than planned. So instead of misleading the community or providing information that is not 100% concrete, then they wait until after the update to provide the patch notes which is 100% concrete and contains everything they did.

You know what else is fun? If Lord of Ultima is down (for routine maintenance, no biggie) you're redirected to the Twitter feed, which tells you to check Facebook, which links to the LoU forums!

I hate it. It's kind of moronic in a way. It's redirecting you to another third part site...why can't we see the information on the official site? It should be backwards. Facebook/twitter people should be redirected towards here.

Then again it doesn't really matter. As the way it is, the people who update the game/client are not the same people who update the website. So when the updates come from the game. It's hours before whoever it is gets on to do their job to update the website.

lol another thing is, that it just seems to half baked how things are. It's like no one actually is in contact with one another. I don't get why they don't add change logs BEFORE the update saying "This bla bla bla is going to be updated" instead why is it after the game has been updated then the change announcements are made after. It's as if the person who updates the website has to look through the game files itself to find out as he wasn't told before hand.

...and that is the reason why they are meant to perform test to make sure that when things cross over that they work. Even so, they can still edit the post saying "bla bla was not added due to problems" instead of not telling us anything at all.

(lol I'm reminded how you can't make post topics to promote other threads/topics which is what BFH sort of does, just redirect you over and over)

They did that before and there was massive QQ about certain items missing. Now its QQ when they tell you 100% accurate information. You can't have it both ways and it is actually a common industry trend to provide patch notes after the patch has been made rather than before. They tell you an update is coming because it will disrupt your gaming time.... unless you like surprises and the occasional annoyance when you don't know why the game is down? Smile

So why they say MORE INFO ON FACEBOOK PAGE?! Isn't that misleading too?

hahah.

It's also normal for the website to update WITH the patch notes after the game client update. Not hours after which usually is the case here.

No information isn't technically 100% accurate information.Idea

Also, all they say about update is:
"Hello Heroes,

we just finished updating. The visible changes:

* Group activity notifications
* Profanity filter for group names and descriptions
* Group reporting bugfix
* Group leaderboard pagination bugfix"

And not a single word about game update, all of us saw that weaponsdb.py file and we don't know what's changed about weapons.

BC2 gold (already known and threads around) got updated and added the missing ones (just 3 was coded before this update, not the whole 6)

but I see a "typo" on a folder, using capital laters (all the other folders doesn't have that), maybe an update will change them again...

other than that, profanity filter and there seems to be a bug on Pierce Shot (thread on game bugs section) due to maybe a mistake or typo...

everything else is just internal changes to the game (like recoding) nothing "interesting" for most game regulars

Some changes in what you downloaded haven't been activated yet for the game. When they are, you'll know about it.

Thanks to both of you for answers, but you should always post change log after the update, for game not only for website, because not many of us are good in fortunetelling.
