I know this isnt exactly the right Section, but some people here use Photoshop and hopefully someone can help me with this here.
The person who suggests a working fix for me gets a 10€ PSC!
Around 2 weeks ago, literally in a blink of an eye, my Photoshop CS 5 stopped working.
I was working at a sig and eventually closed Photoshop when I remembered that I wanted to change sth on it and immediatley tried to open it again. "Photoshop CS5 has stopped working" appeared... -.-
Between closing and trying to open it again perhaps
5 seconds went by.
Until now I tried:
- deinstalling including all registries, re-installing - same error message.
- CS 6 demo - same error message
Weirdly enough, I have CS2 lying around on my HD and that DOES WORK Oo
I dont know if its just a coincident, but on the same day my Nvidia Gfxcard control panel also stopped working for some reason and I also wasnt able to fix that until now.
Contacting the Adobe support would be my last resort of course, but according to the Adobe support forums, its also mostly of any help.
Any constructive idea/help would be appreciated

(Thx for reading the wall of text)
EDIT: I tried deinstall/reinstall newest gfx nvidia drivers - not working
You have tried to restart your computer?

my guess would be thats the reason^
try fixing ur gfxcard shet 1st as that would likely fix it i guess
then again ima not sum sorta tech support pr0 :/
The newer versions take advantage of OpenGL.Since CS2 doesn't,it works.
Since it's your GPU,try updating/reinstalling your drivers

i also have the imrpession that it has sth to do with the drivers. But the thing is the last gfx driver update i made was weeks ago...
but i tried different driver versions, none helped so far.
I will de-/reinstall the newest gfx drivers and will report back
thx so far for the suggestions!
Update: I reinstalled the newest nvidia driver - still not working
also the nvidia control still doesnt work, perhaps its really co-related somehow
Some more suggestions?

I made my PS5 crash when I added to many fonts and brushes, could that possible be your problem?
Maybe RAM problem? It could cause the crashes,it also did the same thing for me when my ATI catalyst wouldn't open.
When booting up go to the bios(it's delete key for me) and lower the RAM frequency(the tab you should look at is AI Tweak). If that doesn't help i dunno, the easiest solution would be to format your PC.
EDIT:
Ok i did some searching, try this:
http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ and do a fresh installation of the nvidia drivers from here
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us.
OR
1.Start > Control Panel > System & Security > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Services & Applications > Services or Start > Run > services.msc
2.Find NVIDIA Display Driver Service.
3.Stop service.
4.NVIDIA Control Panel may display if you previously tried to access it. If so, close the NVIDIA Control Panel.
5.Start the NVIDIA Display Driver Service
6.Right-click on the desktop, select NVIDIA Control Panel
NVIDIA Control Panel should open
Yeah also see how much memory PS is taking up
If its not your Nvidia Gfxcard (probaly it is)
you can try to reset ps5? Alt+ctrl+Shift
Hmm.... What about pressing Alt + Ctrl + Delete and look for anything that should not be there. Maybe some Adobe, Photoshop or even Nvidia related.
My suggestion would be removing all fonts etc because they are saved at an alternate direction and don't get deleted by uninstalling photoshop.
Another thing would be reinstalling everything from Adobe (adobe Reader etc...)
And if nothing helps make a backup of the important stuff on your CPU and reboot it that should fix evrything

Nothing helped sp far, thx for the help though :| I still believe its related with my gfx card somehow...
First of, what graphics card are u using?
How old is it?
How much memory does you PC has available to be used?
Did u already do a scan for any virus/malware?
U should try to reinstall your graphics drivers + Photoshop at the same time.
Also u could try use
Ccleaner to remove stuff u really don't use/need.
It also comes with a registries fixer, which u have to keep running until all the problems are gone.

Thx for the post Pomcorn
- I have a NVIDIA GTX 470, should be a little bit older than 1 year.
- I usually have around 4 GB of my 6 GB available.
- I already scanned the PC with a Rootkitscanner and Avira, found nothing...
- I reinstalled Gfx drivers (actual and older ones) + Photoshop several times, nothing so far
- I already used CCleaner (excellent tool imo), but also no result afterwards.
I guess I just have to reinstall my whole system at one point.. -.-
I believe its has something to do with OpenGL, like TadejV already said... ah whatever, this has made me mad for a long time
Wow this has just been bumped O:

Sounds like a missing file somewhere...
Maybe this video will be the key for the solution:

Thx, trying it right now. Fingers crossed
EDIT:
After the playing around in the registry my Gfx card wasnt recognized anymore LOL. I tried a reinstall for the last time but it seems, that I really just have to reboot my whole system at some point -___-
I just downloaded GIMP and Im trying that for now...have to start at point 0 but at least it works...
However thanks a lot for the effort! <3
